If you speak a foreign language, you can get to know a lot of people around the world, and
become friends with them. You can move around freely in a foreign country, you can say what you
mean and satisfy your needs.

Tips for learning English
Ali,
sporazumevanje znaci:1. razumeti nekog, 2. osmisliti šta zelimo reći, 3. znati reĉi kojima ćemo to
reći, i 4. znati po kojim gramatiĉkim pravilima to iskazati. Na maternjem jeziku svi ovi koraci se
smenjuju munjevito brzo, bez nekog našeg posebnog napora.
uspeha, a rad 99%.
sposobnosti i znanjem jezika.
uvidite, i ispravljate.

We attend Vuk Karadžić Primary School in Knjaževac. On
8th November, our school celebrated its 35th School day.
There was a great performance on 7th November, which was
prepared by pupils. Its idea was to spread the spirit of our
tradition.
The performance began with a choir, in which we sang, and
then an actor with the role of Vuk Karadžić greeted the audience.
Then, there was a film, in which our school was presented.
After that, our Principle Svetozar Cvetković gave written
commendations and some gifts to the most successful pupils.
Finally, there was a play. Actors were wearing traditional clothes.
The action happens in the countryside, where grandparents tell their grandson from a
town, stories about the past. They tell him how people used to live, work, sing and dance.
At the end, the grandson realizes that he should spend less time with a computer and a
mobile phone, and that he should know more about the past.
Lots of people were there, and the guests from Beĉej, too. There was a sports
competition because of the school day, and we won the football match.
Everything was perfect, and we hope that future schooldays will be as nice as this
one.
The message is:
Step into the future, but don’t forget the past.

Teacher Saša
“Ooh, that school!”- these are the
words every pupil says in the
morning when he/ she has to go to
school.
Why don’t we like school?
It’s because we have to study a lot
and sit in our classes for 45
minutes. That is BORING!
There should be more fun at
school. We could learn with more
games, use computer in classes and
see something on the Internet that
will help us, talk more in language
classes…
We should have an active
drama section in our school, which
will prepare interesting plays.
Then, we could have more sports
events and do many other things to
make our school better. The
teachers could joke with us and
our classes won’t be so boring.
In such a school there will be
something for any pupil. We will
come to it to meet our friends,
have fun and study in an
interesting way.
That is the school I would like.
Our
class
teacher
is
Saša
Stanisavljević. He is a P.E. teacher. He
teaches P. E. or Games to pupils in
Podvis and Knjazevac.
He is 37. He has got black hair, brown
eyes and a round face.
He lives in Knjazevac, near my cousin
, in a very big and comfortable house.
He drives a very nice car.
He is a really good, funny and
interesting man. He listens to good
music, but, most of all, he is interested
in sports.
He is very good at sports, especially,
swimming, but he has a good score in
any sport. He likes to play volleyball,
tennis and basketball. He also runs a
basketball section.
Anyway, he is a very good teacher
because he is also our friend. He helps
us with any problems with sport or else.
His classes are very interesting. Right
now we are practising volleyball in our
P.E. classes. Everyday we are better and
better in his classes.
Everybody thinks that he is a good
teacher, and we want all other teachers
to be good.

Twas the night before Christmas
When all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse…”
Clement Moore
St. Nicholas
The poem goes on to tell about the stockings by the chimney, about the
children who are sleeping in their beds. It tells about St. Nicholas who comes in his
sleigh full of toys with eight reindeer. On the roof of the house he gets out his sleigh
and climbs down the chimney. He quickly fills the stockings with toys for children. At
the end of the poem St. Nicholas drives off and says, “Happy Christmas to all, and
to all a good night!”
Ready for English 3 ,1994
Besides Santa Clause, St.
Nicholas is also the one who
gives children a lot of presents
around Christmas and New
Year. They celebrate him on
December 5th.
Our St. Nikola comes two
weeks later, on December 19th
A day or two ago,
I thought I’d take a ride,
And soon Miss Fannie
Bright
was sitting by
my side.
The horse was lean and lank, misfortune was his lot.
He got into a snowdrift bank- and we? We got upsot!
So now the moon is bright, enjoy it while you’re young.
Invite your friends tonight to sing his sleighing song.
Just get a bob- tailed nag and give him extra feed.
Then hitch him to an open sleigh- and crack! You’ll take the lead!

Christmas is the biggest festival of the year. Families usually come
together to celebrate it. People put up decorations and decorate a
Christmas tree. On Christmas Day (December 25th) they open their
presents, and there is a traditional meals of turkey and vegetables,
followed by Christmas pudding. The next day is a holiday, too. We call it
Boxing Day. On Boxing Day, people often visit friends, or go to sports
matches.
At New Year, a lot of people have a party to welcome the New Year. They
have fireworks in the street and there is a lot of music and everybody has a
good time.
Project 2, 2008
Colour the picture using this legend.
The Serbs celebrate New Year twice- on December 31st and January 13th
with an Orthodox Christmas in between.
The Serbian Orthodox Church still uses Julius Caesar’s outdated
calendar, which follows Gregorian calendar by 14 days. As a result, Serbia’s
Christmas falls on January 7th.
People usually celebrate New Year at restaurants and caffes, but also at
private parties with their families and friends- of course, with a lot of good
music and food!!
Many people, especially the young, spend the New Year in the streets.
City authorities usually organize concerts in the squares with different types
of music.
No matter what you choose, enjoy yourselves!!!

Falling in
love
Love is a gorgeous word. Most persons in this world
have loved and have been loved. When you fall in love,
you feel great and happy, although you can be
disappointed, too. I have been in love a couple of times
and have gone through pleasant and unpleasant
situations.
At first, I didn’t know what love was or simply what it
was like to be in love… Does it hurt or not? I saw others
hugging and kissing and didn’t know whether it was good
or not. When you are in love, you are always happy. You
usually think about that person, and you have butterflies
in your stomach. The worst thing that can happen while
you are in love is to be disappointed when your love is
not unrequited. During my lifetime I have been in
situations when I wasn’t loved. I felt broken- hearted.
Most people usually fall in love at this period of life and
feel something to persons of the opposite sex. Older
persons speak and think that I am incapable of loving.
Maybe it’s true, but what do we teenagers feel then, if not
love? Love rips our hearts apart and for those emotional
persons, it is so painful. Some think of committing a
suicide, while others accept it in a more relaxed way.
When I love, I love truly.

My New Years’ Wishes
On the beach
It is a hot, and sunny day.
I am happy, I’m OK.
There are clouds in the sky,
and there is a butterfly.
There is sand under me,
There is a large blue s ea.
A cold drink is in my hand,
I am drinking with my friend.
We are sitting on the sand,
and listening to a hip- hop band.
`My brother and me
I like to eat ham,
My brother likes to eat jam.
My brother likes a toy,
But I’m a big boy.
I’m very good at sport,
But he is very short.
And when we go to play,
He always loses the game.

Santa Clause, Santa Clause,
Make it snow
Make it white
Make everybody listen to children
And hear how they are bright!
Santa Clause, Santa Clause,
We all love you
We’ll all be happy
if you come to our houses, too.
Santa Clause, Santa Clause,
New Year is near.
Good children will get their presents,
and will be happy when you’re here.
Vuk Karadzic Primary in Podvis
My school is in Podvis. It is a part of Vuk Karadzic Primary
School and it has only 35 pupils. Every morning the teachers
come to it in a school van.
My class is small, and there are only five pupils in it- two girls
and three boys. We are Nevena, Vladana, Martin, Aca and me.
I think it’s better to go to a smaller school because we can learn
more as teachers can work with each of us more. Then, we all
know each other and we all have fun during the breaks.
However, I’d like to go to a bigger school because then I could
get to know a lot of new people and have more friends.
I hope that will happen when I start going to a high school.

Avril Lavigne
Avril is one of the greatest stars in
the world of teenagers. She is a young
girl whose songs are very popular among
young people.
She is a very cute girl with long blond
hair and dark eyes and her image is very interesting
and original. She always wears a T- shirt with prints
and converse sneakers, but sometimes in her
ballads she wears a dress.
She became a star in her early age, and her first
song was a great success. She played the piano and
the guitar in it.
The most of her songs are ballads, but there are
also a lot of rock songs with fast rhythm. However,
we can find out in her interviews that she loves
punk music, but she doesn’t play it. We can also find
there that she is married and that she is very happy.
She doesn’t have any children up to now, but she is
very young and she‘ll have time for that.
Her music style is rock, pop-rock or just pop and
her albums sell well. Some of her most popular
songs are :”The Best Damn Thing”, “Complicated”, “Skidder Boy”, “When you’re gone”,
“Why”, “My happy ending”.
She is a very special and sweet girl and because of that we love her.
Here is one of her songs:
The best damn thing
You won’t, won’t, won’t,
I hate it when a guy doesn’t get the door,
you won’t get rid of me, never
Even though I told him yesterday
Like it or not even though
and the day before.
She’s a lot like me, we’re not the same.
I hate it when a guy doesn’t get the tab
And yeah,yeah,yeah… I’m a lot to handle.
And I hate to pull my money out
And that looks bad.
You don’t know trouble, I’m hell of a scandal.
Me, I’m scene, I’m a drama queen.
Where are the hopes? Where are the dreams?
I’m the best damn thing that your eyes have seen
My Cinderella story scene?
Give me A! Always give what I want!
When do you think they’ll finally see?
Give me V! Be very good to me!
That you’re not, not, not gonna get
any better?
R! You gonna treat me right!
I! I can put up a fight!
Give me an L! Let me hear you scream out loud.

For the first time in our country,
there is a reality show like Operation Triumph. This is a music show, and
people from all the former Yugoslav republics, except for Slovenia, could
take part in it. At the end of the show, the winner will be a star of the world.
Contestants had to pass many auditions to become student- contestants
in this academy. And now they have to stay in it for 100 days and, during
this period, they have to go to fitness, dancing lessons, they have to learn
singing techniques and have many rehearsals. Every Monday they present
themselves at a Gala evening, which is watched by people from all these five
countries. Then, the academy is also left by one student, who was nominated
the week before.
The students who entered the academy from the start were Ivana,
Milica, Sonja, Mirijana, Nikola Sarić, Nikola Paunović and Đorđe from
Serbia; then Aleksandar and Kristijan from a former Yugoslav RepublicMacedonia; Nina from Montenegro; Jasmina and Adnan from Bosnia and
Herzegovina; and Ana Bebić, Andrea and Antonia from Croatia. Now many
of them have left the house.
Our favourite students are Nikola Sarić and Nina. Nikola Sarić is from
Belgrade (Serbia). He is nineteen years old and his nickname is Sajko. He
plays the guitar and the drums and he loves classical music and hip- hop.
Nikola is about to enter a faculty. We love him because he is very interesting
and because he listens to Dado Topić and Riblja čorba, which are our
favourites, too. Nina is from Tivat in Montenegro. She was born on 10 th of
April in 1981. She plays the drums and she likes pop and rock music. We
like her because she is very pretty and smart.
We hope that our favourite students will
stay in the academy to the very end, and
that they will become great music stars.

The History of the Internet
The Internet was created in 1960’s by the US army because there were threats of
the Nuclear War. Its goal was to have stable connections between computers in
the case of the war.
In 1970’s and 1980’s the faculties in America and all over the world realized the
importance of the Internet and they created their academic web.
In 1990’s, there were the first Internet providers- the firms that give the Internet
services.
In 2005, the number of Internet users went over 1, 000, 000, 000.
So, what is the Internet?
The Internet is the web of all the webs of computers which are connected, and
which can share data with each other.
What are the Internet services?
The two most important Internet services are electronic mail (E- mail) and World
Wide Web (WWW).
In comparison to the ordinary mail, e- mail is an electronic message that we send
via the Internet to a PC which receives a message. We don’t need a piece of paper, a
pen or an envelope, but only a PC. We needn’t go to the post office or to pay for this
service. The message comes almost at the same time, and we needn’t wait for the
message to arrive after a few days. We just need to know the recepient’s electronic
address, which we recognize by the sign [email protected] . For example, [email protected]
The other important service is WWW, which allows us to view millions and
millions of sites of different contents. To go to an Internet site, you need to have an
Internet browser, such as the Internet Explorer in the operating system Windows.
There are many Internet browser, such as Mozilla, Opera, and many others.
Sites are Internet presentations and they can be of various contents:
- informative –to find out news
- educational – to learn
- commercial –to advertise goods
- entertaining- to have fun chatting, reading interesting pages, listening to music,
playing games
- multimedia – to download music, spots, movies, and so on.
To find the sites we need, there are special sites that serve us to find those sites we want,
and they are called search engines. The most well- known search engines are
Google.com and Yahoo. com
How to connect our PC to the Internet? We need a modem and an Internet provider- a
company to which we pay for the Internet services.
