A competitive call for proposals offering EUfunded individual fellowships for a total of 240.50 million opens today. Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (IF) support researchers with a doctorate or at least four years of experience to advance in their research and to acquire or transfer knowledge, by moving within Europe or coming to Europe. All research fields may be funded. Researchers currently working outside Europe who would like to return here have special conditions, as do individuals resuming their research career after a break. What are the requirements? Researchers can be of any nationality. To apply for the grant, the researcher has to team up with a host institution in an EU member state or Horizon 2020 associated country that is different from their own. Host organisations can be academic or non-academic, and a short secondment period in an additional organisation is also possible. The grant offers the option to spend between one and two years outside Europe before returning. If the fellowship involves time outside Europe on secondment, a return period to the European host is mandatory. Other secondments are only possible in Europe. Among other requirements, the proposal has to demonstrate excellent research potential and show significant development possibilities in the researcher's career. How to apply? The call H2020-MSCA-IF-2014 is open until 11 September 2014 at 17.00 Brussels time. Applicants have to submit their proposal electronically, following the link on the Participant Portal. How will the fellowships be awarded? Evaluation of the research proposals is expected to start in October - November 2014, with the results announced in February 2015. The successful candidates will receive the fellowship in the first half of 2015. Evaluators of project proposals are drawn from the European Commission's independent expert database. The Commission is looking to expand the database through a call for experts covering a very broad range of fields. If you fit the expert profile rather than that of an applicant, and would like to be considered as a proposal evaluator, sign up in the Participant Portal. More about Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions fund mobility of researchers across borders and sectors, to ensure excellent and innovative research training as well as attractive career and knowledge-exchange opportunities. The funding is open to all domains. In total 817.40 million will be granted to the H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellows in 2014.
