LAUD 290 – PLANT MATERIAL
LAUD 290 is a compulsory summer course which should be completed following the second
year’s spring semester.
AIM OF SUMMER PRACTICE:
The aim of this nursery training is to give students an experience on site; i.e. plant
identification (trees, shrubs, ground covers, perennials and annual plants, etc.), their physical
characteristics (color, form, texture, scale), their ecological requirements (earth, light and
fertilizer requirements), production techniques (seeds, cuttings, etc.), plant composition,
planting design, application, and maintenance (fertilizers, watering). The minimum time for
this practice is four weeks.

• To print summer training request form (pdf),
• To inform instructor responsible from summer training about the choice,
• To print summer training acceptance form (pdf),
• To submit acceptance form to the department
• To print performance evaluation form (pdf) (to be completed by the employer
confidentially),
• To fill-out summer training diary,
• To write summer training report,
• To submit the report at the second Monday of the following fall semester.
SUMMER TRAINING DIARY
You are asked to have a diary during your summer training. You are encouraged to record it
regularly in order to profit while writing your report. The director of the company/institution
should check your diary and confirm it weekly by signing. Please do not forget that this diary
will be part of your summer training report. You must have a diary in A4 format.
SUMMER TRAINING REPORT
INSTRUCTIONS
• The report must be written in English.
• The report must be in A4 format.
• The Report must be typed using point size 11, and text lines must be 1.5 spaced.
• Page margins must be set at 2 cm at top, bottom, left and right.
• Pages shall be numbered consecutively, starting with Introduction.
• The report should consist of a hard title page.
• The deadline for submitting the report is the second Monday of the fall semester.

Diary.
EVALUATION OF SUMMER TRAINING
LAUD will evaluate your summer training by your ‘Diary’ checked and signed by the director of
the company, by the ‘Performance Evaluation Form’ and your ‘Written Report’.
The evaluation of the reports will be on Pass/Fail basis. A report can be either satisfactory,
unsatisfactory or incomplete. If the report is to be found incomplete, it will be returned to the
student for revision and/or rewriting. Anyone who fails will be asked to repeat the summer
training in the following summer.
The following will be taken into consideration in the evaluation of the reports:

The general style, format and organization of the report.
•
Attempts to fulfill the requirements cited above and present them in the report
appropriately by means of drawings and photographs.
WARNING
Any kind of plagiarism will be graded as “Unsatisfactory” and you will not have a second
chance to rewrite, you will directly repeat your summer training in the following summer.
