Abstract
In the new digital age, information is available in large quantities. Since information consumes
primarily the attention of its recipients, the scarcity of attention is becoming the main limiting factor. In
this study, we investigate the impact of advertisement pressure on a cultural market where consumers
have a limited attention capacity. A model of competition for attention is developed and investigated
analytically and by simulation. Advertisement is found to be much more effective when the attention
capacity of agents is extremely scarce. We have observed that the market share of the advertised item
improves if dummy items are introduced to the market while the strength of the advertisement is kept
constant.

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of Turkish Version of
the Night Eating Questionnaire (NEQ) in psychiatric out-patient population as a measure of severity of
the night eating syndrome (NES). Methods: We examined the factor structure, internal consistency
and validity of the NEQ in Turkish. First, we translated NEQ into Turkish and than back-translation into
English; correction and semantic adaptation and assessment of the understanding of the
questionnaire. We made the diagnosis of NES according to psychiatric examination. We administered
the NEQ in 433 patients and the re-test in 141 participants two weeks later. Result: The instrument
showed satisfactory internal consistency with an overall Cronbach a of 0.69. Intradass correlation for
the test re-test total score was 0.96. The ninety seven patients had NES with psychiatric examination.
The area under ROC curve defined as 0,904. For cuff-of point of 18 in NEQ both sensitivity and
spesificity were as 90.7% and 73.8%. The confirmatory factor analysis of the NEQ yielded a similar
four factor solution as the original scale. Conclusions: We found that Turkish version of NEQ is valid
and has good diagnostical performance, and high internal consistency.

Abstract
In this study, a vector controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive fed by a twolevel inverter which is connected to a boost converter with sliding mode control (SMC) for power factor
correction (PFC) is presented. The performance of the drive system is analyzed with all the system
details such as speed control of PMSM, SMC, and PFC. The simulation results are obtained using
MATLAB/SimPowerSystem blocks. The waveforms of source and motor currents are analyzed with
their harmonic spectrum. The unity power factor is performed by obtaining a low input current with total
harmonic distortion (THD). The experimental results of PFC are analyzed with input current waveforms
and THD values for with/without PFC.

Abstract
Tumor-to-tumor metastasis is a well recognized phenomenon. Although any tumor may be potential
recipient of metastasis, renal cell carcinoma and meningioma are the most common malignant and
benign recipients, respectively, whereas the lung and breast are the most common metastatic donors
respectively, in both settings. Patients with hereditary cancer syndromes may be at higher risk for the
development of tumor-to-tumor metastases. The most common pattern of tumor-to-tumor metastasis
for intracranial neoplasms is the type in which an aggressive high-grade malignancy serves as the
source of tumor and a more indolent neoplasm serves as the recipient tumor. The development of
tumor metastasis from a second primary malignancy is uncommon and remains biologically puzzling.
Its low incidence has made its full biological characterization evasive. Although rare, neurosurgeons
should be aware of the entity of tumor-to-tumor metastasis.

Abstract
In this study, construction and standardization of a track for performing fatigue and reliability tests of
light commercial vehicles are described. Such a test track is necessary for design and manufacturing
verification of these vehicles. Fatigue characteristics of Turkish roads were determined by analyzing
fifty different roads. This paper focuses on defining the load spectrum and equivalent fatigue damage
of the leaf spring resulting from accelerated tests on a route. Fatigue analysis and estimated lifetime of
the part were calculated using Finite Element Analyses and verified by the Palmgren-Miner rule. When
as customer profile the Turkish automotive user is taken into consideration and accelerated test tracks
are designed for the reliability and fatigue tests of the related company, linear FEA of the spring
represents a convenient procedure.
