Advanced Experiments in Physics of Waves

Experiments 1-10 will take place in Lab 27 from 9:40 AM to 12:30AM
TENTATIVE: We will meet (9:40AM) on Wednesdays in Lab 27 to discuss theory behind
fundamental concepts in OPTICS (these half hour lectures will not be held on the following
dates: April 1st, April 8th, April 13th and April 20th)
OBJECTIVE:
In this class your objective is to learn about various exciting optics phenomena. You and
your lab partners will investigate exciting phenomena in Physics with light. Mostly you
will perform measurements with laser sources, so be careful. Lasers are dangerous, please
make sure to protect your eyes at all times. Minimum 2, Maximum 3 people per group!
SCHEDULE (TENTATIVE): Please see PHYS 222 lab manual for experiments 1-10 –
will be available on METU-CLASS.

Rest of the Course:

Laboratory Make-Up (Only allowed for students with valid excuse. May 20th in
class only date!)

Final Presentations: 15-20 min presentations by each member of the class, with
5 min question/answer session (Finals Week, TBA)
Grading:
EXPERIMENTS 1-10: 5% EACH
MIDTERMS: 20% Each
FINAL PRES: 10%
