A bstract: Organic Rankine cycle is a power cycle which uses organic fluid instead of water for low-grade
temperature applications. Organic Rankine cycle, which is suitable for low-grade temperature applications such as
waste heat, solar and geothermal applications, may be utilized to generate electricity from the waste heat in power
plants. The waste heat can be transferred to the organic fluid by means of a heat exchanger. In this study, a
thermodynamic analysis of electricity production from the waste heat occurring during the pressurization of the
natural gas before sending to the gas turbine in BilEnerji Power Plant located in Bilkent University campus is

GmBH. The investigation comprises a simulation of a subcritical ORC-process using R245FA as a working fluid and
$& )NR#,/,*"*/$D& R,7/#))& N)*(%& JS9<G2& R#,67,4#+& _*"3& "3#& )*4ND$"*7(& "77D& 'C!U0IV^ Professional . The fluid
properties were calculated by EBSILON based on the integrated equations of Refprop (NIST). For two different
working fluids, the power outputs of the cycles are determined for different turbine inlet pressures and for different
condenser temperatures. It has been showed that supercritical cycle can produce 39% higher power output than that of
subcritical cycle. In this study, it is also demonstrated that modern software like EBSILON can be effectively used in
thermodynamic cycle design.
