The aim of this session is to

Day 1 (PM)
“Technical Concepts”
This session will provide a review
of noise calculation methods
currently in use, or under
development, in Europe, and
discuss their general components.
There will also be the first of the
detailed discussions on the specific
methodologies to be used for
strategic noise mapping in Turkey,
the first being roads.
•
Introduction to methods of assessments, the various methods in use around Europe,
and the general components within a method of assessment.
•
Briefly introduce the EC recommended Interim Methods in the Turkish regulations
•
Introduce the proposed EC Common Method (CNOSSOS-EU) which may be relevant
for the R3 mapping in 2017

Technical details of the French road calculation method, source and propagation aspects.

“Challenges and Management”
The aim of this session is to
provide the participants with an
understanding of the challenges
of undertaking strategic noise
mapping from a technical
perspective.
The session will focus on
software implementation of the
methodologies, uncertainty within
the process.
•
Challenges of implementing a documented standard into noise mapping software.
•
Aspects of the documentation of the methods, some aspects of the methods, and
some requirements of the users to calculation situations outside the verified scope of
the methods.
•
