„Oto Baranek Boży”
W naszym życiu mogą być
sytuacje, kiedy ktoś
wypowiada jakąś prawdę, a
my jej nie rozumiemy, a co
najwyżej domyślamy się tylko.
Możemy nie znać znaczenia
słowa w obcym języku albo
treści jakiegoś precyzyjnego
terminu z zakresu danej
dziedziny wiedzy.
Co ze słów Jezusa: „Oto
Baranek Boży” pojęli uczniowie? Z relacji wynika,
domu, gdzie zamieszkał, a potem byli z Nim do
końca Jego ziemskiej wędrówki, aby odczytać
tajemnicę Baranka Bożego.
Pozwól nam, Panie Jezu, poznać tajemnice, które
są zgodne z wolą Twojego Ojca, a dla nas są
pomocne w umocnieniu naszej wiary. Niech to,
co jest dla nas dobre, stanie się umocnieniem
naszej wiary w Słowo i niech wyda owoce godne
uświęcenia i zbawienia.

Men have a habit that
apparently is not shared by
their wives. It's called pantry
grazing, or cabinet surfing, or
raiding the refrigerator. It is a
simple process in which we
hear a little voice in our
heads (or our stomachs)
which commands us to find
something to eat. Now, most
of us are pretty clueless when it comes to what exactly we want or
where exactly we might find it. We do our best to graze the pantry or
surf the cabinets in solitude, but the minute we open that refrigerator
door, our wives are suddenly standing behind us, asking "What are
you looking for?" What are you looking for? Some people spend their
entire lives trying to "find themselves" or "find the meaning of life."
Sadly, some find neither. Two of John the Baptist's followers were with
him when Jesus walked by one day. "Behold, the Lamb of God," John
said to them. Immediately, they wanted to be with him, referring to
him as rabbi, or teacher. Andrew introduced his brother Simon to
Jesus who immediately changed Simon's name to Peter. In this short
period of time, these men found the meaning of life-and themselves.
Today's Gospel reading from John tells of the beginning of Jesus'
other family, his disciples. The Catechism of the Catholic Church
reminds us that "the Christian family is a communion of persons, a
sign and image of the communion of the Father and the Son in the
Holy Spirit" (CCC 2205). By praying daily and reading the word of
God, we strengthen our families and further our ability to spread the
Gospel of the Lord, just as those called to Jesus' other family were
able to do when they found what they were looking for.

It is time once again to start the planning for the next Bazaar!
June 18-20. This is the major fundraiser for our school and
helps us provide the future leaders of the church with
outstanding academic and spiritual foundations for the rest of
their lives. We need all of our “veterans” back this year and
welcome everyone to join our fun, productive (and not too
long!) meetings.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 20, at 6:30 pm
in the small cafeteria. Want to help but can’t make the
meeting? No problem, just give Paul Korzynski a call at 860670-3536 or send him a note at [email protected]
January 25 is the
feast
of
the
Conversion of St.
Paul and the end
of the Week of
Prayer for Christian
Unity. The Week of
Prayer for Christian
Unity consists of
eight days beginning January 18, at that time the feast of the Chair of
Peter, and ending on January 25, the feast of the Conversion of St.
Paul. The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, founded in the early
twentieth century, south to promote unity among Anglicans and
Roman Catholics. The idea for Christian unity soon began to catch
on, and by 1930’s, more and more Christians welcomed such a focus.
Suggestions for prayer and education are distributed each year,
emphasizing a jointly chosen theme. The 1964 Vatican II document
on ecumenism, Unitatis Redintegratio, gave a great boost to the
octave, so that today many Christians worldwide promote and
participate in the octave time of prayer. The emphasis on both Peter
and Paul aptly fits into the rationale of the octave. Peter is seen as the
source of unity within the Christian tradition. Paul is highlighted due to
his vision of bringing all to Christ. The week of Prayer for Christian Unity
is and ideal opportunity to pray for and promote respect,
understanding, and hopefully eventual unity among Christians.
The theme for 2015 is taken from John 4:7 in which Jesus asked the
Samaritan woman: “Give me a drink.” The materials for our
celebrations this year were prepared by the churches of Brazil,
specifically the National Council of Churches of Brazil in association
with the Brazilian Regional Office of the Latin American Council of
Churches and the Ecumenical Centre for Bible Study. The study
materials teach us the importance of knowing our own self-identity so
that the identity of the other does not threaten us. Through the
experience of this self-knowledge, we will be able to experience the
complementarily of the other. In the text Jesus is seen as a foreigner,
tired and thirsty. The woman is in her own land where the well belongs
to her people but she is also thirsty. They each have their own needs.
The complementarily takes place when Jesus does not cease to be
Jewish because he drank from the water offered by the
Samaritan woman and the Samaritan woman does not reject
who she is in following Jesus. So in drinking from the well of
another we are taking the first step in experiencing the way of
life of the other. This leads to an exchange of gifts that
enriches everyone. Through this experience we come to
recognize that persons, communities, cultures, religions and
ethnicities need each other, are a gift for one another.
